What a coincidence. Ambrakia was the site of my toughest siege battle in the entire Romani campaign. I had to fight a full stack in the city that was owned by Epirius and yet another full stack of of reinforcements. Deployed my units right in the place where the reinforcements were supposed to arrive when the deployment phase ended and the battle began. That stack was routed & slaughtered with only 5% losses, despite being made up of good quality troops. Then came the city itself. It was garrisoned by Epriote elites. Many elite phalanxes. My casualties were at all-time high of 85%, but I managed to win. My stack had 6 units of Principes & Triarii (50:50 ratio), 3 units of mercenary infantry (Greek Classical Hoplites, Celto-Hellenic Infantry, Samniti Milites), two general's bodyguards as well as 4 Accensi.
EDIT: despite my fears, an Epriote counterattack did not happen, despite the fact that a third stack was practically right by the city, just far enough to not be able to reinforce Ambrakia, which was being stormed. I was able to keep the city.
