Thread: Kills ratio

    Default Kills ratio

What do other people get in relation to the number of allies lost for wiping out an enemy stack? With a normally balanced army (i.e. not HA vs an army of phalanxes) if I go into the battle with 2:1 odds in my favour I usually get under 10% vs 100% kills. What are other's experiences?

Currently engaged in steppe warfare: HA vs HA, ALX.exe. Most battles are 1:1 odds, but composition differs - I'm using heavy HAs, they have large numbers of light/medium HAs. Tactics revolve around securing best possible position for missile exchange (phase I) then best possible position for dramatic charge (phase II). With lots of forests, hills and other terrain points, the positional warfare is replete with interesting subtleties. Particularly interesting phenomenon is use of small scale hand-to-hand combat to secure wooded cover for missile exchange. This has been a critical success factor in 50% of battles.

Kill ratio stands at 834.5:1 in campaign to date. Been very lucky, but I think I may have cracked steppe warfare.

This is all just winning the battle, not killing 100% of the enemies.
If its 1:1 I usually get around 25-40% deaths. If 2:1 or higher around 5-10%. If 1:2, 1:3 or 1:4 I can win but I take like 50-70% deaths. 1:5 or worse is where I die completely, but that never happens unless my one full stack goes up against 5 others at once.

EDIT: oops forgot to say I always play on h/h because I enjoy crushing the computer even when handicaped.

In 1:1 ration and playing on Medium battle difficulty I get about 7-9% casualties. On 1:2 I get 15-20%. On 1:3 I get up to 35% casualties. Haven't screwed up so badly that had to fight a battle against greater odds. I save very frequently and reload also very frequently (mostly due to failed diplomatic/spy/assassin missions).

On huge with medium battle diff, from a normal battle after healing about 70-200 at most, unless I fuck up or they have several armies/HA.
I shouldn't have to live in a world where all the good points are horrible ones.

Is he hurt? Everybody asks that. Nobody ever says, 'What a mess! I hope the doctor is not emotionally harmed by having to deal with it.'

I usually get about 10% deaths but in a particularly messy fight it can be up to 50% ( if I don't lose)
