Seriously, you could have made up some kinda story about how it's an anagram for "Rastes" which was the battlecry of the soldiers of the Arverni Kingdom, a word believed to be descended directly from the Indo-European word "Razta," a word which can be traced, either directly or indirectly, from every existing word that is related to rebel, rebellion or a fight against oppression, especially the word "Rastafarian..." so in other words, Sartes is a Rastafarian.

Or something like that.

Well maybe the name is derived from Jean-Paul Sartre. I mean a general who, after being slaughtered time and time again with his army, gets resurrected just to fight the same battle over and over again would surely start to ask himself some existentialistic questions.
