hmm, first of all i like your style.. i'm usually not for vast empires too. in my kh campaign i also took only handpicked citys like sinope, syrakuse etc. because i felt they deserved hellen protectionism.
but i always hoped to counter a massive roman empire in the end which mostly did'nt come either of alternate history unfolding or me having not enough patience (my pc is very slow) and i only had last week to do the 12 h game sessions on a daily base - so now i started to play rome myself for the first time in my eb time (lots of nice traits to read though). but i started the campaign on medium, because i felt the diplomacy would not quite work on h/vh, but i do feel it might be getting too easy - although i do see reasonable naval invasion.. hargh i cannot abandon it again !!!
ah and what i wanted to say - i have the same problems - i just can't talk to anybody about eb - my friends are not even rudimentary antique history what can you expect starting a sentence: "..this is when my consul finally took lilibeum from (sp?) safot'softim bi quart'hadast ;) ....
i once told a friend about r:tw and he got it way before i came across eb (actually, i came to it because of a rome mod for mount & blade if anybody knows - get's quite repetative after a while) and i know he will not have the patience to get into eb.. so if he tells me about some r:tw vanilla experiences (he still on it sometimes) i just feel like.. well you know hes my friend you can complete the sentence yourself
anyway big thxs for the eb team - i think i never said it that straight..
and good luck for your campaign (sorry i was now talking more about my own exp.)
