I agree with everything Monk said.
I'd like to add few lines:

1) Aviod using numbers: use " four minutes" instead of "4 minutes"

2) I know you want to make the point of views different from each other and this is the reason for the different colours ( the British read and the German black) but it's really tiring for the reader's eyes to read read lines. Once I tried this approach myself and the harm was bigger than the profit.



Edited: I also read the second story about the Naval battle. I have nothing to add to Monk's comments but it is also very good.
