    Default Gmail and email receipts

I did a Google search (of course!) and only came up with one side of the story. Gmail doesn't support email receipts for sending emails. But if someone sends you an email with a receipt on it, is that person informed that you read it through Gmail?

Inquiring minds dodging responsibility need to know.

Generally: no. gmail is web-mail, and read-receipts aren't on offer.

There are, however, some hacks available that your sender could implement - although that possibility seems doubtful, given what you described as your situation.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.
