I know. I think you are spot on in that, and it account for a lot of miscommunication.

But then, the request for relevance is mutual. The precise specifics of Islamist politics in the Indian subcontinent are perhaps not directly relevant to a general thread about Islam. But neither are four pages of anti-racist conditioned reflexes that follow any comment that could be deemed critical of non-westerners. I, in turn, question the relevance of that.

Hey, in another year, another forum, maybe my irritation would be over rightwing nonsense. Always five threads about Muslims on page one. Usually, one of them sensationalist nonsense, only half-based on facts. Three, simply sensationalist nonsense outright. And only one of some import.

But as it is, my irritation is over leftwing nonsense.
Anti-racism, warning for unnecessary generalisations - they are laudable causes. Nothing but praise for it from me. But they can be overused. It can stifle debate. And it can become such a conditioned reflex that simple truths remain either unseen, or are buried underneath a swath of aggressive derision, or, even worse, are deemed taboo.

That's, unsurprisingly, not the way I see it. I don't like to be this short; but my head is a vacuum
today.
Basically, it appears that the treshold of throwing out some bad stuff from religion x, and thus prove how evil it is, is lower for Islam than other religions. Can you imagine someone on a Christianity thread put up a post that goes like this: "Christianity, hunting down Jews; a war of religion embarking on massive crusades"? It's called selective picking of facts and does not seek to see a greater picture.

There could be an element of over protectism when it comes to Islam, as it is a relatively sensitive topic, however I fail to see too much of it.
