From what I've understood here, you're asking for some music production software.

Well in PC-side of that world, Steinberg's Cubase is a very very highly regarded software.

Cakewalk has a bunch of products as well here.

Sony's Acid may be seen as a less-complex step into that section.

I've always liked drag-dropping samples onto a sequencer and found Dance eJay series of eJay software fun & useful -although it's less functional and restricted to sample-based dance music genre. Steinberg's products will definitely be the best choice when it cmes to serious musical production.
