    Default oh noes

ive just noticed my king is 58 and with no heirs, ive just finished creating three great armies to invade scandinavia and form a crusade to palestine!!

so, is there anyway to edit in a prince to the savegame somewhere? or to play on as another faction after my line is extinguished as my kingdom will revert to germany due to marriages?

Well, if you create a shortcut for the game and add the -ian command after the main command line (it should, hence, look something like "F:\Medieval Total War - Gold Edition\Medieval_TW.exe" -ian), you can use the number keys (not the numpad (sp?), use the line above the letters) to switch to other factions (and even leave the game on auto-run - I think you press a for that).

However, aside from that, there is a cheat to birth an heir to the throne - but it's exactly that, to birth them. They'll have to grow up for 16 years first and come of age so they can become the heir apparent. They won't appear already come-of-age or just before, like 15 years old or anything.

I'm not sure about editting the save game...

I believe in a society without rules, laws and regulations. A society where there are only ideas - strict ideas that must be followed to by the letter - and any failure to comply is punishable by death. This would be no dictatorship or police state, no one would be living in terror. It would merely be a 'reassessment of one's preferences,' people living in 'not-so-optimistic security.' So, welcome, those who are 'longing to be blindly obedient and loyal, unbeknownst to them.'

As a last resort, you can also try instigating a civil war and then back the Rebels. This will create an entirely new royal family line.

Drive down the loyalty of one of your best generals (preferably one whose loyalty wasn't that great to begin with -- it'll save you precious time). Also, you should deliberately lose some provinces and/or create a couple Crusade markers and then destroy them; this will often be enough to trigger a civil war all by itself.
