    Default Trouble Loading EB

Hi everyone, I'm having trouble getting EB going. I signed up a few days ago, and have spent my free time scouring the help threads on this site (before contributing to board clutter by posting a superfluous thread) for tips as to what's going wrong, but so far I've come up empty.

I'm having the problem where instead of the game loading, I get an error message saying:

    EBTrivialScript Error

Execution of command 'RomeTW.exe-mod:eb-show_error' failed (error 2: the system cannot find the file specified.)

I ran the "validate install" and got the following results:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: europabarbarorum/Vali
    dateInstall
    Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: europabarbarorum.ValidateInstall
    at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source)
    at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
    at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source)
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
Validation is complete. There should now be a new file called
"ebValidationResults.txt" in this directory. However, if you're running
Vista and have installed RTW/EB under PROGRAM FILES, it probably won't.
In fact, if so you're very likely to run into trouble later because of
that placement. Make sure you have installed RTW/EB anywhere else.
Press any key to continue . . .

I also did basically all the recommendations in the "Install Validation" help thread that applied to me, and still no dice. For good measure I dl'ed the latest version of java since I saw the name so much in the validate install results above , but still nothing.

I apologise for the repetition if I missed someone posting my same problem somewhere on the board.

Anyway I appreciate any help you guys can offer; I really look forward to playing EB!

    Thanks

You appear to have installed EB into the wrong directory. Unfortunately, you're one of the few who have problems running the validation, so I can't be 100% certain. Your RTW folder should contain both a folder called DATA and another called EB.

You can perhaps take a screenshot of it and post it here?

Additionally, your command line seems wrong. It should read RomeTW.exe -mod:eb -show_err. Notice the spaces and the lack of OR in show_err. You can create your own shortcut that has this command, however then you can't use the trivial script to modify settings.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Well I just un-installed EB to see if I could find a problem when I go thru the steps. First thing I notice is that when I install it in the Rome Total War folder I get a message saying this is an invalid folder, and only to proceed if I had expected this error.

So I proceed, and the next popup thing asks where I would like to install the "EB Trivial Script." Should this go in the Rome Total War folder as well? Because it appears the default is "program files."

EDIT: Hmm, nevermind, that didn't work either, it still seems to not go to the Rome folder...

The trivial script does not need to be in the same folder, it can be placed anywhere.

If you did not expect the error of the invalid folder, then why oh why did you disregard the message? You've installed EB into the wrong folder again.

Er just to clarify a little further, I still have this image on my host from helping someone else with the same problem so I'll repost here:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

You need to install into into the directory where you're RomeTW.exe file is located (highlighted in screenshot). Use my computer/search to find that .exe first, then when you've got that information just install EB to the same place. When install is completed you should have an "EB" folder in that directory (also highlighted).
    Hope that helps
