Default Is copy right protection included for BI expack

The SecuROM included in the Kingdoms expansion for MTW2 borked the game for me and my optical drive won't read the disc. I just ordered the RTW Gold Edition, for $10, to get the BI expansion pack. Is there any copy right protection malware included? If so I will return the game.

Nope, I'm pretty sure there isn't, I think only Kingdoms came with SecuRom.

It's safe, HT. No copy protection.

R:TW and R:TW BI both use SafeDisk - I think R:TW uses v3 while R:TW BI uses v4 (with the Gold Edition using v4 also). SafeDisk is generally the "lightest" and least intrusive copy protection, as well as being the most popular and apparently the least problematic - beyond the usual ethical argument over copy protection in general, I have heard no complaints about it.

Generally, the most controversial copy protections are StarForce and SecuROM. StarForce being particularly nasty, giving those who can exploit it a route to the computers' security ring 0 - essentially giving them full security clearance to do whatever they want. It's fallen out of use though, ever since UbiSoft, possibly their biggest customer, was taken to court by a Californian millionaire (and lost).

    D'oh. Didn't know that.

Hope ETW's like that. Looks like it's the best protection out there.

Thanks. As long as it's not SecuROM I'm okay with that.
