Basileus Report, Spring 257 BCE

I engaged a Ptolemaic army outside of my fort in the Delta Neilou consisting mostly of light infantry and native spearmen and phalanxes, no cavalry at all. The victory was great; I guess the time spent studying tactics finally paid off. (OOC: Sarpedon gained the trait "Good Tactician", giving +1 to command stars. Battle report coming up tomorrow I think.)

Ptolemaios must be getting desperate and scared now that I have besieged Alexandria. He has strengthened it much since our last reports - or the reports were simply false - but all in all, we should win. Unless our supplies run out before theirs do, and they can hold on for almost three years. This may call for an assault, but that would be bloody, and that's undesirable. Hmm. Perhaps that old fool spoke wisdom after all?

Captain Androsthenes have moved on and is just one click away from Byzantion now, and captain Lasthenes are halfway between Hierosolyma and the 1st Syrian Army's fort. He will get to me when winter comes.

Chancellor Panaitolos should take note that without an intervention, Ekbatana and Zadrakata are likely to riot.

(OOC: SOT updated with new orders.)
