I take full responsibility.

This thread is both sad and good - sad that people hate rap without cause, but good that some people are posting what good rap is - at least my definition :) I'm typically an indie kid so yeah...
I won't post any videos for fear of copping a ban (srsly..just some people speaking their minds) but I really hope someone checks out the songs I mention.
I love Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli, with common and others in a lot of songs..)

for starters..
Pharoahe Monch has a great song called 'No Mercy', here's some lyrics so you can see why:
This rhyme, will remain in the minds of my foes forever in infamy
The epitome of lyrical epiphanies
Skillfully placed home we carefully plan symphonies
Who would be ignorant enough to have the audacity
to **** wit the likes of I and my tenacity?
I listen to some rap, but most of it is just people who all they care about is money, like snoopdog and 50cent, does anyone here think they care about anyone other than themselves? I honestly think that most modern music is complete crap, especially all of that techno crap that a lot of people are listening to (where I live anyway), why is it that I could listen to Ride the Lighting and the Soviet national amthem over an over again?
Oh come on you people, rap can be like this too....

It's the Game and lil Wayne - my life... but it is done by a woman (with an awesome voice!) and a piano... is awesome... even if you don't like rap i would suggest a listen!

Some piously affirm: "The truth is such and such. I know! I see!"
And hold that everything depends upon having the “right” religion.
But when one really knows, one has no need of religion. - Mahavyuha Sutra
Freedom necessarily involves risk. - Alan Watts
There only 1 or 2 rap songs I actually enjoy listening to. The rest of it is trash in my opinion.
The original rap version is still the best IMO. I think the game has good flow and he sort of sounds a bit closer to the 90's rappers who piloted west coast rap.
Your very wrong I'm afraid. Listen to shook ones pt.2 by Mobb deep or straight outa compton by N.W.A and then tell me rap is trash. rappers like this are extremely talented and have great flow, when people say that rap takes little "skill" when compared to other forms of music they are extremely wrong.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Although I come from a prog-rock direction I really enjoy some high standard Rap. Mostly german, but also stuff like Mos Def etc.
I think it's important to be open minded when it comes to music, so I really can't understand how some people hate rap just because they saw some silly people rap about money and "girls".
If anyone is interessted in how german rap sounds here is a youtube link (although posting youtube music links is pretty much senseless)
