I too recommend Sennheiser. I tried them two years ago after going through several sets of Plantronics, and am very happy with them.

I've had really bad luck with this model: Logitech 980376-0403 Headphones
I've gone through three pairs now and have made sure to be extra-gentle with the last two. Still, they've died after a short while. It seems every electronics store I go to has this model stocked, even if they have little else in the way of other headphones to choose from.
I did have good luck with this model, though: Logitech 980246-0000 Headphones. They lasted a really long time and took tons of abuse.
Late to the game, but nevertheless here.I bought a pair of Sony MDR-V900's about 5 years ago, and by the gods I love them. They're rather large and bulky, but they're circumaural design so they don't kill my ears, and they can put out some deep, rich sounds. They retailed for $600 new when I got them, managed to find them online for about $250ish. I've also heard many good things about Sennheiser as well. The little Bose headsets were a bit too gimmicky for me, I couldn't "feel" the same sounds as my current headphones, esp. the bass. I'm no audiophile, but could tell the difference. I'm sure if you go with either Sony or Sennheiser, you can't go wrong.

They're selling on Amazon for a mere $70. On Google marketplace they're bottoming out at $127. Not bad if they're kick-ass cans.
Of course, if you are an audiophile, or are audiophile-curious, you might want to look at Grado phones ...
