The Redux Mod -- For both MTW/VI *and* vanilla MTW!

Since Axalon is apparently too modest to do it himself....


One of the most oft-asked questions here in the Main Hall is whether there are any mods available for vanilla MTW (most mods require the Viking Invasion expansion pack). Until recently, about the only choice for those who own only the original MTW was a version of Wes' MedMod.

However, I'm pleased to announce that they now have another option. For those of you who are unaware, last month Axalon released Medieval Total War - Redux 1.0, a brand-new mod that's compatible with *both* vanilla MTW and MTW/VI. what ever this means I suspect it to be good!?! Now, since I’m still learning the Org-lingo I don't really understand how you guys use the term “join date” but I get the feeling that means something else than I am familiar with. Raz also have used that term on me earlier and I am still as clueless here as I was then! So, could anyone please explain for me what the term means around these parts? How about you M? Will you explain it for me or is there anybody else willing to make me understand it's meaning? Cause I honestly don't have any clear idea here on how to interpret the Org-version of it.

Martok: I stumbleled accross the front page and the news section by a mistake (wrong short-cut or something like that) and my first instinct was that there was something wrong with it since it had no pic there (there always is somekind of pic there). As I began to read it, because I figured it might be something intresting, and a split second later I could not believe my eyes! It was about redux!!! It was a shock to me, but nice version of it so to speak. I had a massive smile glued to my face for some 10 minutes after that. ....Why can't there be more days like that? Anyways, I take it that none of this would have never ever happened if it not was for some efforts made by you, so again, many thanks man! I really appreciate it.

(BTW: I already sent a thanks-PM to TosaInu as well since he had no obligations at all to help me out, just like you!)

With this new found spotlight and all I thought id sneak some useful info as well, while I got the chance, so here goes; for those of you who have downloaded redux already or is perhaps considering to do so here are a little reminder for you to keep the game on an optimal level:

There is a few fixes out during the wait for the release of a proper patch for MTW-redux 1.0. Dependent on what version of original MTW you got you'll be needing different stuff:


Running a MTW V1.1: (you currently need)

If the webpage is displaying properly, under each member's avatar there should be some info shown - including join date, location, post count, etc. Your join date is last month, Mouzafphaerre's is Nov. 2003, so I think the remarks about your join date are expressing pleasant surprise at your mod accomplishments for someone who so recently joined. Great job!

Silly me, I actually thought it meant some other unknown special weird thing since I never encountered this kind of usage for the term before, as I said; I’m still learning the lingo here.

Anyways, thanks again Mouzaphaerre, now that I do have some clues on what you meant. Oh, and don’t let that join date deceive you, I have been tinkering with MTW for years! He he!

Your join date is 888, which is what Mouza was referring to I believe.
