Panaitolos Ankyrikos may have overestimated his force, but I think it far more likely the Epiros sprang upon him with no warning that he had no chance to defend his men. if that is true we must hold some resposibility for it, we are the ones who allowed him to try and take the city of Tylis, we who sent him on this mission. now can we sit back and watch him be slaughtered? no the Lydian army must not fall, if it does the Epiros will have a direct route to hit Byzantium and Mikra asia, and with all of our other armies south or east, we will have nothing to stop them. I suggest the army be given some mnai to buy a small number of mercenaries, enough to hold on until a relief force, levied from mikra asia, can be sent to help. that is my words and I am sure my brother would agree, would go even farther and lead the relief attempt to the east himself!
