    Nikarchos enters the room.

    Strategoi, forgive my delay.

    Aratos, congratulations for your promotion.

Sith that he sat down. His representative brought him up to date. He raised again.

Yes, I second Edict 6.1 and 6.3. The same goes for CA 6.1, since I consider Sarpedon to be a friend of mine.

It always was my opinion that we should take control over Greece and free our people there, the ones of you who are in this council as long as me know that. I'm glad that you, Sarpedon, also second this Edict.

However, should you need the services of a good man there near my forefathers homeland, you know I'd gladly fight by your side. I reformed state business in my Satrapy so things are almost going by themselves and the people still are as happy as they where, when they enjoyed Sarpedons just governance.

    Newly promoted Strategos Hetairos stands.

"Thank you! Thank you fellow Strategoi!
I'm truly honoured by your compliments. I'm glad that my hardwork is being recognized and hope it inspires others to do the same for this great land I love.

For the expansion of my personal bodyguard, Magistrate, I want 2 medium phalanxes from Hierosolyma.

Basileus, if I leave the 1st Syrian Army, I believe the best two men for this army's leadership would be Arrhenides Cunobelinus or Alexandros Syriakos. The soldiers are completely loyal to these two Strategoi and trust them, as they do me."

    Magistrate stands up...

So that we could govern our great Arche better I propose the following Charter Amendments..

Charter Amendment 6.2: The following part will be added to the General Rules:
1.6 - Game Master: Ibn-Khaldun will serve as Game Master and is responsible for management of the game and enforcement of the Game Rules. Ibn-Khaldun can delegate any of his powers to another person whenever he chooses.
Charter Amendment 6.3: The following part will be added to the Rule 1.4:
In case player do not vote in 2 consecutive Council Session Ibn-Khaldun can kill that avatar off(including family members).
Charter Amendment 6.4: The following part will be added to the Rule 2.5:
If player haven't posted screenshot with the results of the battle he will receive 1 Bp less than shown below.
Magistrate bows and takes his seat...

Cunobelinus lumbers into the council chamber"I appologize for tardyness. I had a very bad illness that I'd caught along my travels to get here. I've gotten word that the 1st Syrian needs a new commander. I had been their second in command for awhile. I think the men would like to have me back. I know them well, and under me they'd be their most efficient and deadliest." Cunobelinus looks around for an open seat...

Time to propose legislation is over! Polls will be up soon! They will stay open until 14:00 GMT Thursday, January 29th!

Since there were no other candidates then Panaitolos Ankyrikos is the next Chancellor!

A messenger arrived and brought a message from Mikra Asia. He bowed to the Members of this council and then even lower to the Basileus

Strategoi, Milord, I come with the latest news from Mikra Asia. The Rebels who had pillaged southern Phrygia and intended to continue their bloody work in Pamphylia have been destroyed by Nikarchos Asterias Syriakes, Satrap of Ipsos, who crushed them with only one half of his Satrapial army. The other half he left behind on purpose, for if the Rebels would have escaped and turned north, Ipsos would not have been defenseless and still could have averted danger until the Satrap returned with the rest of his army.

    The region is save again!

The messenger bowed again and stepped back

A properly dressed man steps forward.

"The great and honoured Basileus is, as you all know, off at war in Aigyptos. In his absence, his heir - that is right now Phanias Laodikeias Lydikes - will have control of the Council. If he too is unavailable, the old magistrate here will hold the honours. If you have something you need to say or ask the Basileus personally, you can either say it here and let me send a rider to him as soon as I can, or you can skip the middleman and send a rider yourself. I may be able to answer some questions myself, though, so it may go faster to just come to me anyway. It's your choice.

Oh, and my name? You can call me Agathangelos."

A messenger comes in and whispers something in Agathangelos' ears. Agathangelos stands up.

"Great news from Aigyptos! Philadelphos Ptolemaios has been killed in battle, and met his death in the most honourable, and thus also undeserved, manner that can be imagined: he was cut down by our glorious Basileus Sarpedon Syriakos himself!

But that is not all. Alexandreia has been captured! The native Aigyptians and the more troublesome people have been sold into slavery, generating enormous amounts of mnai for the Royal Treasury. All hail our brave Basileus, who lost more than half of his bodyguards when leading from the front, for that is how a true commander behaves.

    Hail Sarpedon!"

All glory for the Basileus then! truly this is a wonderful day. how many, in the dark times when the ptolemies ran rampant through are land, would have scoffed and chided us if we said that in only a dozen years we would have pushed them out of their own heartland? many I assume, but we stand witnessing such an event, truly a glorious day.

a messenger runs in and wishpers something to Liatus, and he nods Basileus my brother, on his way to Karkatheiokerta, realized that the garrisons of the cities of Edessa, Karkatheiokerta, and even Selukia combined dont have enough men to wipe out the concentrated force stationed there, especial considering it is lead by a rebellious nobleman. he asks that a conscript army be raised, nothing to fancy, a force strong enough that he can slaughter these men and make the heartland of our empire safe for the first time in a long time.

"I have received a message from lord Sarpedon Syriakos.

At first, he would like to apologize to Patrokles for being late with the answer, but that can be excused because it's a long way to Alexandreia. In any case, he must decline your request. No money will be spent on any other units until his Royal Army is retrained. After that you can talk to the Chancellor about it, though I must remind him that he have his instructions to follow, and he can't break them.

Secondly, he would like to make it publicly known that Chancellor Panaitolos Ankyrikos has been punished with a fine of 2000 mnai for disobeying a direct command and overstepping his authority. Let no one say the Great Basileus is less than lenient - but he will once again remind the Chancellor not to expect such a graceful punishment if it happens again.

Thus are the words of the Basileus."

    Agathangelos bows.

I am sure my brother will understand, in fact I have just recieved a report that upon reviewing the situation he may be able to destroy the force with the garrisons of the city around mesopatamia, he may have overreacted about the forces size, although that is understandable due to his still persisting fever and illnes.
[didnt know what the units were before. now I know they are all native spearmen, which I think I could take]

A blooded rider enters the council and with what strength he has left reads a message from Panaitolos Ankyrikos of the 1st Lydian Army...

"Good men of the council, Kleronomos Basileios , and Lord Sarpedon. Whether you are here in the council as of now I do not know. But to anyone who can grant me what I am asking it would be more than appreciated.

I met Eudamos Prochetheios and his army that was more than twice the 1st Lydians size. In the best defensive effort I could make, I was able to kill a great number of them. But in the end my men could not hold. So with what is left of my army, and myself, we have enclosed ourselves in a fort and will make our last stand to gladly give our lives for the Arche and the Basileus.

So what I ask, is that I be allowed to pay the finest mercenary's available to aid our cause. If it cannot be allowed, then I will die taking as many of those rats down with me.

I hope a response reaches me in time, and to all men of the Arche, I bid you these as my last words dear friends!"

It's the Basileus' choice to decide whether we will allow it or not. If I, Nikarchos Asterias Syriakes, Satrap of Ipsos, had to make the decision, I would give you the money and order to send those bastards to hell.

"He got himself into this mess, and now that he can't handle it he wish to spend mnai on overpriced and expensive mercenaries - and not just any mercenaries, but the finest and doubtless most expensive ones available?

I think I can speak for Sarpedon when I say that the demand is outrageous, and to what end? Would it be enough to stop this Prochetheios? Or would it just let Panaitolos survive a little longer? If Panaitolos is already lost then the mnai would be better spent on levying a new defensive force in Mikra Asia, than on one unit that would be doomed from the start anyway.

I will forward this request as soon as possible, but don't expect a favourable reply."

your words are harsh Agathangelos, though they may hold a grain of truth. Panaitolos Ankyrikos may have overestimated his force, but I think it far more likely the Epiros sprang upon him with no warning that he had no chance to defend his men. if that is true we must hold some resposibility for it, we are the ones who allowed him to try and take the city of Tylis, we who sent him on this mission. now can we sit back and watch him be slaughtered? no the Lydian army must not fall, if it does the Epiros will have a direct route to hit Byzantium and Mikra asia, and with all of our other armies south or east, we will have nothing to stop them. I suggest the army be given some mnai to buy a small number of mercenaries, enough to hold on until a relief force, levied from mikra asia, can be sent to help. that is my words and I am sure my brother would agree, would go even farther and lead the relief attempt to the east himself!

Ahh I am sorry Nikarchos I did not mean to belittle your might. I am sure any Epiros who tried to attack your Satrapy would find themselves swiftly dead, And I feel confident you can keep Mikra asia strong until Reinforcements arrive, but we still need to keep the lydian army alive.

    Agathangelos stands.

"I have now had word from lord Sarpedon, and it is as I feared." He turns towards the messenger. "Let Panaitolos know that his majesty regretfully feels he must decline your request. Let him also know that he wish Panaitolos good luck, and in case he dies in his defence, lord Sarpedon thanks him for his faithful service."

    Archangelos turns to Hiatus.

"It is of course not in Sarpedon's interest that the 1st Lydian falls either, you must understand that, especially as those soldiers mainly come from Sarpedon's old satrapy. He's not so cold-hearted either as to not mourn if Panaitolos falls. However, Panaitolos knew the risks, and he still proposed the attack himself, so it's not fair to say we sent him away, for we only let go of the leashes he was already stretching out with his whole force.

Lord Sarpedon's rejection rests upon the fact that a mercenary force would be expensive, and for that money a new force could be summoned to meet this new threat should it try to push into our territory. This force would stand a better chance at a lower cost, and in the end, that would serve the kingdom better. You can accept reality for what it is and then work with what you've got, or you can enter fantasyland and pretend it is not so. When you are in such a position that you have to rule a great kingdom, and have to consider more lives than just one man's, it would be inexcusably irresponsible to go for anything except the former."
