Well, I basically had to spend like 4 hours yesterday night fixing my computer and the problem has gotten me to wonder what causes it.

Basically, when I try to start my computer, the computer just pauses at the windows logo screen as the OS is loading up. It will never proceed and safe mode does not work either.

To fix it, I used a bootable CD with a diagnostic tool that scanned the hard drive and found like 1 bad sector or something like that and repaired it. Afterwards, I was able to boot up normally and everything was fine.

Now, this has happened twice to me. What took me a long time yesterday was that I have a DVD and a CD drive bay, but the DVD one is broken (I think) Unfortunately, I couldn't boot from the CD drive so I had to get my USB stick bootable and then boot my CD from there.

Anyways......does anyone know what causes this problem? I'm pretty sure its because theres something wrong with the hard drive, but I have no idea on what is the exact cause.
