EDIT: We only play two matches against each opponent, correct? Or do we need to play a third game if there's a draw?

Stephen Assen feels the reek of camels and of dead Argentinians that fills the air... Only his firm grip on the reins of his horse keeps the terrified animal under control. He stares at the Royal head of the Black King that was put on a spear. He lowers his gaze as to show more respect to the fallen general and occasionally meets the Arabian letters.

"One King to rule them all.
Fifteen pieces could fall,
but he shall ultimately survive.
Ohterwise your enemy will thrive!"

He smiles to himself and rides back followed by his hooded guards. Behind the hill his legions are waiting. And if his plan is correct, until Monday the next week he will invade the Rhy' Kingdom.
One King to rule them all...

-----------

Dedicated to the games between Cambovenzi and woad, Caius and Martok and to some extend to that between me and glypz.

I made a criminally stupid move and lost my Queen, I think this game is beyond recovery. I didn't account for his Rook putting my King in check if my Bishop took his Queen.

But I'll fight to the death nonetheless!

Is it Wins-Loses-Draws?

Also it it points for every game won (so you'd get 4 points from your two games against an opponent?)

Well, many players are going off schedule so maybe I'll have to wait a bit... But I do not how much, though..

FactionHeir 21:37 11-17-2008
IMO its best to be ahead of schedule than behind, especially when timezones differ and you may not be able to catch your opponent during certain times later.

Duel with Seamus has ended in my favor, 2-0

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Defining moment in this game, IMO, happened after the Q-R skewer (9. ... Bg4 10. Qg3 Bxd1 11. Kxd1).

Noticed that defending both e and g pawns from Seamus' queen was impossible, but after a while realized that '#. Qxg7' was a death trap. (my queen met a similar fate during Game 2 against pevergreen)

Defended e pawn w/ '11. ... Qd6' and hoped...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
(with fingers crossed on both hands)
...he would notice the 'dangling' g pawn but not the trap.

The trap was sprung on move 14 and completed at 16, at the expense of g pawn and K-Rook, and I was able to ride the momentum the rest of the way
GG, good sir

Losing the Queen (I saw the trap one move late) not only put me at a power disadvantage, but the timing and placement put me behind the curve the rest of the game. I struggled on, but my efforts only increased his costs, G never let me change the power metric back to even. My only consolation is that a better player defeated me in this game, and did not beat AND embarrass me as in our first confrontation. Congratulations.

Glyphz is a specialist in taking other people Queens :p

Seamus, when shall we start the last of the First Round games?

Any within group games are "fair game." Good summary posted earlier. Afraid I'm a bit distracted with work now to be as assiduous as it deserves. Also frustrated at the slow pace of finding/engaging my group opponents.

Yeah. Twas a hassle. After game 1 and the beginning of game 2 happened within 2 days, it took around 10 days before we met each other online again... Tedious, yes, but better than having the 'chess clock'
