    Post Open-Air Computer Case

This is strange a funky, and I think maybe I want one:

Article about it here, product page at Antec here. What do you think? Would this be a good case for people who like to swap out parts all the time?

Looks cool, but it'd get DIRTY. Those of us who own cats and dogs understand all to well how hair and dust can clog up a machine's fans and ports in only a month or so.

Well, looking at it I never imagined it would be on the ground. This seems more like something you'd have on a workbench of on your desk. C'mon, it's kinda cool, isn't it?

It looks cool, but as was said, definitely not a viable purchase if you own any small mammals.

When i opened up my case recently to replace the PSU, i found there was a lot of dust, and it was made worse by dog hair being interlaced with the dust.

Design engineering holds functionality before the design itself and this one is an effort in vain.

How could you know what one can knock/spalsh something how and where ?

I say, you may hang this from the ceiling but believe me somebody will try a header on it someday.

Eh, I have an open air case as well, it's pretty easy, you just leave the top away.

It's pretty cool looking, but I would definitely want it high off the ground. What they ought to do is rotate the axis that the 5.25 bays are on, so you can wall mount it and have the CD/DVD drives eject horizontally. Down low it's just fodder for pet hair and spilled beverages.

I just saw this, sorry for the minor necromancy, but it's another case of unecessary innovation. Cases exist for a reason, and while I am all in favor of experimenting with some changes to them (Water proof, air flowing fabric instead of metal/plastic?) the essential reasons for their existence are compelling. I mean, forget pets, try running this thing around kids. It would sprout melted rubber balls and poptart chunks in seconds.

In a ventilated broom cupboard it would be fine... just defeats the cool look.
