Default I need a new computer.

My computer has finally taken a dump on me. It is old and outdated. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody could direct me to a good website that specializes in the sale of computers. I am not looking for a package deal. I am looking for a new CPU with a good graphics card and all the other assorted goodies.

Type: window-shop till you drop for components and buy things with impressive names & version/series numbers from renowned brands with certain sub-cultures -- to have even more fun when you finally assemble the thing yourself ?
Type: just a simple PC please, basic sub-selection only?
Type: don't want to assemble but want a lot of selection and can afford to spend money?
Type: little sub-selection with various architectures but quite a few lines to choose from; and spare me (as much as possible) bundled software ?

    First case:
There is no one such site, you will want to compare various reviews visit manufacturer websites get a new pair of glasses because of the destructive 'geeky' look (black plus bright green?!) some of those have; ponder the thoughts of Asus' Q-design in cooling systems etc. etc. No quick deal for you unless you already had made up your mind and just want to order stuff right away.
    Second case:
Spend some time fiddling with the customize-your-pc pages of various well-known PC manufactures. Takes a good deal of time to get the best deal, and buy it in the store afterwards because, gosh, they do charge on shipping costs.
    Third case:
Visit a store dedicated to building computers and spend your day with the bright fellow, keep him to yourself and annoy all the other customers who do know what they want. Or visit some of the more 'exotic' sites out there who still maintain XP Professional is the way to go for home desktop use.
    Fourth case:
Look at run-of the mill e-commerce sites focussing on electronics, they do tend to have decent (good value for money) gaming machines with the certainty all compatibility issues have been taken care of and don't require manual assembly. You can always break it with your own 'upgrades' later.
