The DOOP Flagship Nimbus is patrolling the Oort Cloud, defending the Sol System from possible invasion. Captain Zapp Brannigan, commander of the DOOP defensive fleet, is sitting in his captain's chair, crossing his legs ever so sexily.




Zapp Brannigan:
"Captain's Diary. Stardate: Friday, September 19th, 3008. We are currently patrolling the Oort Cloud, defending the Sol System from possible invasion. Captain Zapp Brannigan, commander of the DOOP defensive fleet, is sitting in his captain's chair, crossing his legs ever so sexily. Lieutenant, are there any space women out here in the Oort Cloud that need rescuing?"

Kif Kroker groans and rolls his eyes at his commanding officer.
"No, captain. This is a lifeless region filled with rocks and ice trapped in a distant orbit around the sun. Nothing can survive out here."

Zapp:
"So that means the space females, if they are indeed trapped out here, are mighty cold? Kif, I recommend that we begin a search pattern for any and all space women."

Kif:
"What about the men, sir?"

Zapp:
"I didn't know you were into that sort of thing, Kif; It explains so much. But that's OK, I have learned to accept and tolerate your choice of lifestyle. Very well... if there are any space men out here, you can have them."

Kif groans again and looks at the viewscreen.
"Captain, there appears to be a very large and threatening fleet of warships heading our way. They appear to be coming from the direction of Omicron Persei VIII."

Zapp:
"So, the Omicronians have finally made their move. Little do they realize that me, Zapp Brannigan, is about to defend the Sol System perimeter with the bold and daring tactics I have become famously for. Prepare to execute the Brannigan Maneuver, Lieutenant."

Kif:
"There is no Brannigan Maneuver, sir. And the Omicronians have opened fire. Permission to raise deflector shields?"

Zapp:
"Negative, lieutenant. We need all the power we can muster if we are going to destroy the Omicronian Fleet single-handedly."

Half of the Starship Nimbus has been obliterated in a single volley of disruptor fire. All defensive and offensive systems have gone offline. Life Support is failing, and most of the crew is dead or being blown into space.

Zapp:
"I see the Omicronians have underestimated me. Status report, Ensign Kif?"

Kif groans.
"Actually, sir, I'm Lieutenant Kif. Half of the the ship has been obliterated in a single volley of disruptor fire. All defensive and offensive systems have gone offline. Life Support is failing, and most of the crew is dead or being blown into space."

Zapp:
"They're playing right into my hands! The Omicronians are more foolish than I thought. Ensign Kif, fire up the dark matter engines, and prepare to jump to warp speed. We will ram their entire fleet, one at a time, until they are all destroyed. I'll be in the escape pod if you need me."

Kif groans once again.

Planet: Earth
Location: Democratic Order Of Planets Headquarters, Weehauken New Jersey.

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth addresses the assembled guests, and fellow Planet Express employees.

"Good News, Everyone! Professor Ogden Wernstrom and I have been working together to develop a defensive energy shield which will protect the entire planet Earth from being destroyed by an orbital bombardment. Just in time, because we've received an emergency transmission from the Starship Nimbus, reporting that 10,083 Omicronian Death Ships are en route to the Sol System, on a course which will bring them within 100 kilometers of Earth."

The Neutral Planet Ambassador stands to speak.
"This is no cause for alarm. Surely if we surrender and declare neutrality, they will respect our sovereignty or enslave us all. We might also be destroyed in an orbital bombardment. Therefore I recommend we take no offensive or defensive action, and go to Gray Alert."

Professor Farnsworth:
"Nonsense. We must take action! I recommend to the DOOP Council that we raise this new deflector shield. Until the energy field is fully charged up, it will only protect a small portion of the surface, beginning with DOOP headquarters. Here, professor Wernstrom and I will be working to finish construction on my latest invention, the Planetary Defense Anti-Orbital Bombardment Freem Tachyon Ion Disruptor Cannon."

The entire assembly seems shocked and worried, and audibly gasps.

Farnsworth:
"However, because it's such a ridiculously long name, we've shortened it to Freem Cannon."

The entire assembly breathes a sigh of relief. Just then, the charred remains of the Nimbus crashes into the Assembly Hall, and Zapp Brannigan and Kif Kroker are thrown free of the ship and directly into the masses of assembled guests.

Kif Kroker:
"The Omicronians... they're here! They've already begun orbital bombardment!"

The crew of the Planet Express ship, delegates from the Democratic Order of Planets, assembled Robot Guests, and visiting dignitaries from other worlds have all gathered at DOOP Headquarters in a final stand against the invasion fleet from Omicron Persei VIII.

However, the Omicronians have turned one of these people against the others in an attempt to undermine the deflector shield, Earth's last line of defense. This Omicronian Agent will begin to assassinate one DOOP citizen every night, until none remain standing. The task of all those who have not been placed under Omicronian control is to root out and destroy the Omicronian Agent, and any who might be assisting him.

Town notes:
If Professor Farnsworth is killed, he will be unable to finish building the Freem Cannon, which is the only weapon which will allow the DOOP (Town) to fight back against the Omicronian Fleet. In the meantime, the Omicronians will begin bombarding the deflector shield, and if the Omicronian agent (Mafia) is not stopped, he will kill everyone at DOOP headquarters, and manually deactivate the deflector shield, allowing the Omicronians to conquer planet Earth.

Town Win Conditions:
1. Either destroy all Omicronian agents and their allies, or
2. Activate the Freem Cannon, once constructed, and obliterate the Omicronian Fleet.

Mafia notes:
Not everyone needs to be killed in order for Mafia to win. Obviously Professor Farnsworth is a priority, but if he dies, someone else will take his place. If everyone who is capable of resisting the Omicronians are destroyed, Town loses, regardless of how many townies remain.

Mafia Win Conditions:
1. Either prevent the activation of the Freem Cannon, or
2. Destroy all who oppose the Omicronian High Command.

Third Party notes:
At any given time, the moderator will activate hidden attributes in your character. You will receive a PM detailing your new orders.

Third Party Win conditions:
1. Either join Town in destroying the Omicronian Agents and their allies, or
2. Join the Omicronian Agents and their allies, and survive, or
3. Be the last one standing.

If you wish to take back a vote, you CANNOT do it by editing a previous post. I will not count it. Period. You must unvote:playerX in order to recant the previous vote. In order to vote for someone, you must do so in the usual Vote:makaikhaan style. Votes must be bolded, for reference.

Other rules: The moderator is bound by the original role PM's sent out, however there is at least one role with a variable alignment. Their alignment may change at my discretion. Basically, if you get really lucky and capture the Omicronian agent on night one, the game continues. However, it is not futile to attempt to capture the Omicronian agent on night one, because that eliminates a possible agent.

If you need to drop out, please private message me, and I will find an alternate for you or use Random.org to play your character for you. Although players may be banished from the game by the Wrath of Hypnotoad, characters will not be.

Suicide/Vote:Abstain/Non-posting is not allowed.

Cheating (definition determined by moderator's judgment) is not allowed. If any cheating occurs, players will be ejected from the game. No hard feelings.

Breaches of protocol may be forgiven if brought to my attention.

Running tallies are allowed and encouraged, messing with the tally will result in a warning. A second error will result in being ejected from the game.

Night phases will be a maximum of 24 hours, however, night phases may end prematurely if I have all the kills and actions received. Email me at askthepizzaguy@yahoo.com if you have any questions. I prefer to receive all game-related communications at this email address. If you simply refuse to use email, I will grudgingly accept private messages.

Town can choose to end their 48 hour phase early by voting in a majority to end it early, so long as everyone has voted. (Use: near the end of the game, when only a few players are left and have already voted.
