    Default MedManager - help!

    Hi,

I used the MedManager a lot when I had v1.1(methinks) but now when I try to edit those v1.3 save files I get an error.
So.. Is there a newer version of MedManager or is it impossible to edit those v1.3 saves?

I am having this problem with MedManager occur ever since I downloaded the latest version of Stainless Steel 6.1.
Do you run this mod? If so that may be your problem. Now when I try to load MedManager, a windows error message just appears.

It previously worked for me for every other mod including DLV5.73, BC1.05 & LTC3.1.

Also, maybe deleting everything and doing a fresh install from the start may work. But thats a lot of trouble to go through just to have that tool to work.

    No I don't have SS6.1 since I don't have Kingdoms.

But I noticed that I can't edit those saved games after I got the v1.3 patch.
Since the patch made MTW2 and Kingdoms compatible then perhaps this patch(Kingdoms) is the problem?

I have couple of good games where I expanded pretty well in the early game but I'm just not willing to wait another 50 turns to get Mongols and gunpowder! In those games I could destroy any nation who would attack me and I just don't think that's a challenge!

So was MedManager meant only to MTW2 v1.1/v1.2?

    Then again...

If you could use MedManager with those mods then v1.3 can't be the problem!

First make sure you have the latest version of it, which if I am correct is 1.0.0.7

1.0.0.7 can be downloaded from the main thread over at TWC, just click the link in the bottom of the original post.

There is also a post talking about edit old saves from 1.2 you'll need to do a few things with the mod, the author explained it in this post.

It also now uses the version information in the medieval2.exe file to determine the version of the save file (I have not been able to locate any version information in the save files themselves). However using medieval2.exe this does not work for 1.2, which CA incorrectly versioned as 1.1.0.0. To override the version in MedManager, use the File, Find M2TW menu command. This will be necessary if you are trying to edit a 1.2 save file, but should not be necessary for other versions.
If that is not the problem you're having, and downloading the newest version didn't help then I am not sure what to tell you. Indications from that thread make it appear as if the author has abandoned the mod.

    Thank you Monk!

I think I had an older version of MedManager and all my problems came from that!

    Thank you again!

A shame such a great utility is now abandoned (presumably)..

I want to edit units. Following the instructions on the site I ran unpacker, deleted some files, downloaded medmanager.zip, uinzipped it, ran the setup. It said that medmanager installed OK, placing an icon on the desktop. when i run medmanager it dies and does not start. It says it has created some diagnostic files but they do not exist. I do note however, that a file named lucene-004bc6bce62972fd369067d85b61ad37-commit.lock was created in the temp directory at the same time that medmanager failed, suggesting that it died in the process of some sort of file operations – perhaps. Can anyone suggest what my problem is and hows to fix it?
