    Default Colorfull Gods

    Hello eb-team,
i´ve seen a very interessting exhibition (some pics here: http://www.welt.de/kultur/article831...ie_Antike.html) about the painting of antique statues.

in the romeversion of eb, all statues that stand around are not painted, how they mostly look today too, but is it possible to make the ebII citystatues in the battelmap so colorfull like this?

    best wishes

why does everyone think that things was just made by stone and no colours, just becouse they was made some tousand years ago. i think about it all the time. helmets isnt bronze coloured just becouse they are made of bronze, there is no reason they diddnt paint them, i would look cooler. and paint was much cheaper than dye. i think they painted everything when they had the chanse. like stonehenge for instance.

Why are you applying modern aesthetics to ancient mentality? We know that helmets were painted, we have evidence for this (frescoes that still hold their colour). However there is no evidence that the majority of helmets were painted, and we have to follow the evidence not join the dots with modern understandings of aesthetics. Case in point is the painted statues. They are ugly when painted, but look sombrely austere and attractive in their original stone colour. For the ancients of Rome painted statues were a sign of wealth of beauty.

    Thumbs up Re: Colorfull Gods

I'm not exactly sure what noble Foot's response was, but even if it was a "yes," I'm sure it would be a very low-priority obective in the mod.

So what will be painted? Statues, its possible that some would. But thats far away in the future. Helmets? A couple might be, but thats because we have actual evidence not conjecture.
