Thread: An idea for the use of agents

Default An idea for the use of agents

Is it possible to mod agents to take the place of govenors of settlements, It seems a little silly that in all of the roman empire (Or what ever faction you like) you can only find 10-15 men to use as goveners, why not mod agents to take the family members place freeing them up for leading armies and other more noble tasks. I mean really there just goveners, family members could still Govern if you like but you would have the option plus an agent wouldn't take a family member slot.
What do you all think? Is it possible? has this ever been looked at?

    Thanks
    Jimmy

An interesting idea that falls down on two points. One is that only the presence of a family member general can turn back control of the province to the player (instead of the AI controlling it). This is solved by changing the option at the beginning of the campaign so that the player control all settlements (rather than only the ones he has generals in). Point two however makes this rather moot as only the general's attributes have any effect on the settlement - thus making the presence of an agent-as-governor rather pointless.

You give the "new" agent the same abilities as the Family member but he does not appear on the battle field, agents have achilles..... I really think this could be implamented

You cannot mod agents like that. You cannot mod what attributes they get. It really isn't possible to implement. However, if you think I'm wrong then please prove me wrong. If what you say is possible then it would be a real boon for us.

You could implement a parallel to the recruitable mercanary generals that would act as govenors. If it is possible to make this new "recruitable civil servant" or such have certain unique traits, they could be more likely to get good management and finance traits later. These civil servants could then be used as govenors, and because they have better management atributes, the computer would automatically assign them as govenor regardless of the presence of FMs. They wouldn't be agents in the technical game sense, but would accomplish the OP's intent.

The problems could come from the need to use up a unit for this purpose, however the Team might or might not consider this worth it.

You might not need as many units to represent this class: one for Greeks in Hellas, Egypt, the East, Italy and Africa (hired Greek academics were common in these regions); one for "Barbarians" in Europe; one for Eastern wisemen in Syria, Babylon, Persia and the East; maybe another somewhere else.

You could restrict the exploitation of civil servants by linking their recruitment to the highest level of academies instead of regional MICs. This way, only large cities of big empires could get them; kind of appropriate since only bigger empires really would need them.

Do these mercanary generals take up a family member slot?
In the end you destroy your family line with generals as they do not provide you with a hier to the throne.
That is why if possible an agent would be ideal for a govenor
