How to give Iphikratous Hoplitai and Thorakitai Hoplitai overhand spear animation?

Hello all, i have played this mod for a while now and its really great, but there is one thing that confuses me:

Why have the Iphikratous Hoplitai and Thorakitai Hoplitai not the overhand spear animation?

Is there a way to give them that animation? What files do i have to change? My moddingdskills are small, but if its a easy change that can be done by a newby like me, it would be nice if someone could tell me the files that i have to change.

Because they were created to serve against the Makedonian phalangitai.

and if ye want to change animations, go to the DMB. take the hoplite animation, go to the iphikratous, look for there animation, and replace it with the entry for hoplite animation.

If you can't do it, give me a holler (its ridiculously easy anyways)

Historically they fought underarm and with longer spears to combat the Makedonian Phalangitai so it is entirely appropriate that they have the current animations. However if you want to change them you will need to change their animations (descr_model_battle.txt), their stats (to change the formation they use - export_descr_units.txt).

AFAIK, the Iphikratean reform happened some time before the Makedonian one, so it's unlikely to me. Any expert here?

Thanks for the fast replies, i have changed the animation, however now the spears are to short, they dont look like the one that the Thorakitai use. I think i will use the original animation. Because i know now that it was their historical correct fighting style its okay for me and im no longer confused.

To change them completely, you'll actually have to alter the model itself. The overhand and underhand animations use different ends of the spear so switching them will make a unit attack with the but of his spear.
