Well, I haven't watched the debate yet, and if it's a snoozer I may not spend two hours on it. The day only has so many hours in it, after all, and a working dad's gotta cut corners somewhere, even if I am a bit of a politics junkie.

I'm at a point where I don't think my opinion means much. I know which way I'm voting, and nothing short of a meltdown/scandal/Scanners-style-public-head-explosion is going to change my mind. I'm much more interested in the polling data on undecideds and indies.

It's hard for me to picture what would make me declare someone a winner or a loser from just watching a debate. I mean, these aren't really debates at all, and you can't view them as such. They're more like weird rituals of talk-talk that form a small part of our ju-ju magic and national popularity contest. I can't pretend to understand how this big, slow likeability trust-off works.

Palin said there was never anything she compromised on only things she couldn't push through. I will not vote for someone who thinks they are entitled to a mandate.

Writing in Han Solo might just be as effective, but we owe it to ourselves this time around to really just write in Ron Paul.

I'm just surprised this time around the conservatives didn't try to trick me with the 'yeah, GWB is an idiot and everything, but if you vote for the other guy the SUPREME COURT IS AT STAKE!!'. I fell for that hard last time. Sorry.

these losers, turn back on your soccer or football, something that might actually matter in your personal lives. These debates are just another joke and it's embarrassing when you see smart people falling for it.

Btw, I've got a new recipe for grilling tri-tip that I'll post in the front room this weekend. It's a smash hit and it will actually be something tangible and worth pursuing this sunday, unlike this sham we stage every few years.

See when I come in with this kind of pessimism people yell at me and tell me murder is "illegal" I blame gender bias on the forum. As an 18 year old I went from being very excited to wanting to cut my wrists because of this. I really hate what my country is becoming and I want to change it but at the same time I have more important things to worry about like where my booze is coming from and if I should take the over under on the game on saturday. At the same time though we hafto ask ourselves when we stop pleasuring ourselves and start pleasuring others. My friends my family are all suckered into buzzwords and issues that really don't matter. We cant keep going on like this you know that...I mean unless you like socialism and debt with an oligarchy at the top. America is losing what once made it the greatest country ever created As I sit here and watch us descend into mediocrity and classism I just get sad

I am totally unsure as to whether you're saying you're leaning more Dem or Rep Strike, but I can say that we on the left very much feel this way too. Only thing really is, we feel like this "descent into mediocrity and classism" has pretty much been going on for a long time now. The last 8 years are pretty emphasized, but it's not just that. The moving our our manufacturing overseas pretty much spelled out bad stuff for us. Imagine us talking about issues with a balanced deficit.... things would be way different. I hate the feeling of so much debt hanging over us, and also the feeling like we can't do so many great things because of it.

Ooh, who you voting for? Or that too personal? :)

I think it felt that way because they looked at each other while talking. But the back and forths were still basically arguments over their boss's voting records.

Does that mean I ought to take the time to watch it? I have this sneaky feeling that it isn't worth giving up any work time or play-with-kids time ...

I'll give you twelve guesses and the first eleven don't count. Hint: My candidate's name rhymes with "yo mama."

I think it was worth it, Lemur. If you could sit through McCain-Obama, this one was worth it.
