Thread: Romani Crash
Majd il-Romani 17:35 10-04-2008
I don't know what year it is, but I am the Romani, an I was invading britain. I had everything except for Caledonia. I send 4 armies, one polybian, one Marian, and 2 mercenay armies. The 2 mecenaries seige the city, the other 2 are in the southwest of the peninsula. Whenever I end the turn, a Casse army (which was hidden by forest) attacks the 2 besieging armies and before the battle screen turns up, it crashes.

EDIT: I installed all of the fixes and this type of problem wasn't in the frequently encountered issues
Thanks in advance.

Assuming that by 'army' you mean a full stack of units. The CTD might occur because there are simply too many soldiers trying to attend the battle (your 2 armies + the ambushing enemy army + the city garrison). Try moving one of your armies away from the city. If they have no movement points left you can disband some of your troops.

Hope this helps.

I don't think I've heard of this before, well except for missing sprites causing a single crash and then working again the next time around. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get past it by autoresolving the battle.

it did, thanks, but now I have a new problem. I beat off this army, and am back to beseiging Caledonia. I attack, and play out the battle. I win. As soon as I close the battle summary, it CTDs. I reload and autoresolve. I win, but it CTDs AGAIN. so I try again, autoresolving again, and it crashes again. I think the reason behind this is that there are 2 "Nimmall" characters in the city. Both look exactly the same and have the same name. I tried move_character to move them to the top left corner of the map (and they are invisible when I move them, like if I move the cursor over that area, it will say "Casse family member" but no character) but the second I hit the "attack" button on the city, it CTDs! Any help?

You cannot teleport away any character that is in a settlement. You'll have to stay away from the clones and wait for them to exit the settlement, at which point you can teleport them away to a remote island and wait for them to die of old age. Any battle with them will crash.

Hmmm, sounds like the problem I've got with my current Baktria game, although I'll have to check if there are two named characters in the settlement in question. Have you tried the kill character cheat?

Kill_character only works in a script. Perhaps that would be a solution, yes, it certainly can't hurt to try. You'll have to put the command into EB/data/scripts/show_me/generic_script.txt, reload the game and activate the generic script by pressing F1, the question mark button and then show me how.

any way to lure them out of the city? I've got an army camped right outside their door and they seem content to sit there and stare at us, whereas before all they would do is ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK... stupid circumstance
