Exclamation Is it worth to play this game? Whats wrong with my game?

I think this is the most accurate and historical game about ancient warfare ever. The time and dedication put into this game is simply unexplainable. I have been playing it for some time now and am still very enthusiastic about it, but I have encountered heavy problems, because of which I dont know if it is worth playing it anymore.

I was playing the Romani EB campaign for some time, and everything was great until by the year 218 BC, I noticed, that I didnt get the Polibian reforms for military units. Then I read on this forum, that I should activate the background script every time I load the game, which I almoust never did. I didnt know it was so important. I tried to folow the roman history, as I played the campaign, but now that my units dont evolve, there is no sense in playing it any more.

So I started a new campaign and activated the script every time I load the game. After some turns, I noticed, that my summers last for 2 or 3 seasons, so my year can last for 4 seasons, which is very strange. I dont know what is the reason for this problem. I can not play this way.

Also, when I start some campaigns and activate the bacground script, the year changes to 14 AD

On this forum, I read a post with pictures and I on the pictures I noticed, that the advisor is explaining historical events. For example, after conquering Taras, the advisor explains that its time to deal with the traitorous roman army that holds the city of Rhegion. In my campaigns advisor doesnt talk at all. Do I have to download some patch or is something wrong with my game?

Please help me solve these problems. This game is too good to leave it.

    Thank you for your time.

You also get instructions to activate the script in the second sentence of each faction description, as well as a quote that's bound to turn up sooner or later.

The 4 turns per year is a feature. Each turn represents 3 months in EB. Even given that, movement is extremely slow compared to real travel times, but we need to do that in order to allow interception of maneuvers.

I don't think I've seen the date change to 14 AD since version 0.7x. Perhaps it fixes itself when you end the turn?

Are you playing the Romani? There is varying amounts of advisory made for different factions.

If you want to see if there is anything different about your game than the rest of us, run a validation. You can post your results here for explanation.

The 14 AD thing happens if you manage (somehow) to activate the script twice in a row. The first time it failed, causing you to be warped to 14AD, the second time it should've succeeded fixing everything.

Thank you for all your information. I am sory if I panicked too much. I think I didint have 4 seasons in my first roman campaign, maybe because I didnt avtivate the script. But even then I was thinking that it would be more realistic if movement would be faster, because you dont need 6 months to get from Arretium to Capua. So I think this is a great feature, despite not totaly realitic.

I am playing the Romani campaign but my advisor doesnt explain anything. It just appears when I should activate the script, and that is all. Please tell me if I should expect anything from him.

Thank you for explayning the 14 AD bug. I see it is only a minor problem.

I am realy thankful to you.

I'm afraid I haven't run a Romani campaign myself, so I wouldn't know any reasons why the advisor wouldn't pop up with warnings and suggestions for further action. Perhaps if you tried to start a new campaign, activate the script and quickly move an army to take Taras to see if it works in a new campaign? In order to take Taras with a small army you can cheat by using auto_win attacker (or auto_win defender if they sally).
