Thread: Issues

    Default Issues

Currently playing Romani, if that makes a difference.

    1. I think I have the client ruler interloper bug. I say think because it only affects two rulers in question. Two cities in Germany, conquered by 'leaderless' legions. Set up type IV government, and I get two characters called 'Kaeso' and 'Lucius', just a single name apiece, which I thought was odd considering other client rulers had the 'amicus' moniker tacked on. Thought I did something wrong/ or the game hiccuped/or I moved family members into the city without realising, so I demolished both type IV buildings and rebuilt them. Can't be sure, but I think what pushed me to demolish and rebuild asap was the interloper trait, and now both men and hovering at the -20% trait, so I've put my game on hold till I get some help. I'm aware of the interloper bug fix, but a) I just wanted confirmation that's whats happening to me and b) I don't want to have to start a new game!!!

    2. Segesta has a problem with it's government buildings. Gauls took it from me and held it for a turn before I took it back. I demolished their government building when I took it back and rebuilt my type II. In the building selection screen I can still see all available government buildings but unselectable. While I suppose it's nothing more than an annoying graphical glitch, how can I confirm my type II is 'working'?

    3. Random game crashes. Checked the 1.1 bug list and this doesn't seem to fall in there. My EB crashes every session, there's nothing consistent about when it strikes, save that it always happens during loading screens, either transitioning to or from a battle. It doesn't matter if the battle is between 6 stacks (I exaggerate) or two units, my game hates battles, and I hate crashes!

There's one preventing me from playing now: I get a ctd everytime - Salamis is going to revolt and it triggers a ctd!

    1. Client rulers get a trait that says they are client rulers, and should eliminate any interloper traits. If you've got a client ruler that didn't get that trait, there probably is another guy somewhere on the map with the same name, who now became a client ruler in his stead.

The interloper fix only fixes the initial client rulers (meaning at the start of the game) who became interlopers, so that's not what's going on here. If you're unable to get a client ruler in those settlements, an easy workaround is to use a gov3 there and put a family member in charge. You could also try to move the guy out of the settlement and use a move_character command on him, to see if someone else is teleported instead.

Anyway, destroying the gov4 and rebuilding it won't create a new guy until the first one is gone. You can try to suicide him on a brigand or pirate attack or something, then rebuild the gov4.

    2. When you take an enemy settlement, you should always destroy all government markers. The enemy occupation will have destroyed the apparatus you put in place there as surely as you overturn their rule. So destroy all buildings and rebuild from scratch.

    3. Crashes during loading a battle is usually a missing sprite. Have you installed all the fixes?

1.Huh, that's weird, thanks for clearing up the bug fix, as I was about to install it. I only have one pseudo-client ruler left, the other settlement finally got sick of interloping and lynched their client ruler. I think I'll just suicide the other.

    2. As I said, when I took Segesta I destroyed all non-essential, non-profit-making buildings. At that stage in the game the only things left was the governer's building, stone walls, market, and farm.

    3. Ironically enough I'm here now because I was literally just booted from a battle once again. How do I go about finding what sprites I'm missing and what I need?

    4. Forgot to include in original post another issue I've got: when hiring mercenaries in bulk, not all of them are transferred to my command. The money for purchasing them goes out, but the unit doesn't appear!

I misunderstood you. I assumed that you had destroyed the foreign government and repaired your own government. I don't think I've ever seen the buildings in the build list when you destroyed them all and rebuilt. I'm sorry but I don't know what can be happening there.

Install all the permanent fixes. You can then run a validation to see that you've installed them correctly, make sure you download the checklist with fixes when you do.

Never had that mercenary problem. Are you sure you can afford them all? Mercenaries aren't cheap in EB...

All the fixes? But aren't a few of them incompatible with save games?
On the mercenaries, yes, can definitely afford them. You can't even select them if you can't afford them, the problem lies in their transferring from the mercenary pool to my general's army.

No, the permanent fixes are all savegame compatible, which are the ones I asked you to install (and the fixes thread too, BTW). They are not all retroactive though, which is not the same thing. Still, install them all.

Can't help you with the mercenaries. Sounds like you have enough money to burn anyway :p.
