Vassal probably isn't the right word. Poland governs itself and is more of a protectorate. Or at least that's my impression. I think of it like the Poland-Lithuania empire except Russia is the senior partner.

Besides, i also started as a vassal. You can play just as well and if you must become independent, then just wait for the opportunity.

Is that something that occurred in game, or is the status quo at the beginning of the game?

Correct. Technically it's Russia's main objective in the game. It seems aqward to have a player in charge now.

As Czar of Russia and Protector of All Orthodox Christians, I am deeply concerned by recent events on the Greek peninsula. Therefore, I am sending an expeditionary force to render humanitarian assistance and provide security to the Greek people. The present calamities are unacceptable and a peaceful solution much be reached soon.

    Nicholas I
Emperor and Autocrat of All the Russians
King of Poland; Grand Duke of Finland

The Catholic Peoples and Parliament of Poland would like to say that while adamant in their defense of their Great Mother Russia they will be sitting back to properly gauge the situation in Greece before committing her brave sons to die for it's people.

They would also like to point out to our friends the Russians that they are in fact not our king unless our entire relationship is completely contrary to what was understood by the parliament.

The Polish parliament is best to remember their pledge to abide by all laws passed by their king, Nicholas I.

The Czar intends to honor his pledge to protect Polish rights and does not not ask her to commit troops to this effort. If she chooses to stand by as others suffer than so be it. The Czar is known for his support of the serfs and peasants under his protection. Perhaps one day the Polish parliament will be known for such as well.

ThePolish Parliament will not commit its brave soldiers to die for nothing if for the very least they must know what exactly the conflict really is. If the Czar would be so kind as to present us with an argument as to why we should commit troops to the Greek conflict we would welcome such.

As you may know a new party has been elected to parliament and all pledges made by former parliaments will have to be reviewed before they are accepted by the new order.

We would also request that the Czar not push Orthodox Christianity as the state religion in Poland.

    Representative Parliament of Poland.

The Czar has the utmost respect for the brave sons of Poland. This is a mission of mercy, not war. If the new parliament chooses to aid their sovereign they will demonstrate to the concert that our two peoples stand together for mutual defense and for the defenseless.

Since the parliament is so concerned about ecclesiastical issues, perhaps they would attend a service in Moscow as personal guests of the Czar.

Franc: I'd like to treat this as an in-character/game action if it's okay with you and Warman.

The Czar is delighted by the Kaiser’s offer of support. He will send a trade caravan escorted by an elite unit of Cossack equestrians.

Declaration from the Chancellor's Office of the Austrian Empire

The Austrian Empire sincerely hopes a compromise between the Ottoman Empire and Great Britain will be achieved. Lord Canning should reconsider his plans, for the present situation brings only instability to Europe. I hope the activity of the British prime minister will not be limited only to risky adventures but that he will agree to give his share to the European peace. So far the Austrian ambassador in London reports only shut doors and strange speeches of Lord Canning. At the same time, the Russian delegation has assured their Austrian friends that Russia will also do its best for the restoration of the peace on the Balkans.

On a different matter, I would recommend spending less money for wine and coats but rather take care of the poor souls who inhabit the growing cities or some starving children. I even risked a family scandal by refusing to buy a new coat for my wife, meine Liebe Antonie von Leykam.
