Default Working in the Middle East

I was thinking of getting a job in the GCC. Anyone with any experience of living over there? Recent events have rather torpedoed that idea for the time being, but most economics trends are cyclical.

ignore the news, most all westerns have had positive views after visiting.

As for the best oppertunity qatar is the best right now, or bahrain, although i live in the UAE i'd say jobs are rather tight right now. Whats your education and what job are you looking for anyway?

My dad worked for a while in the Middle East, he said it was a very relaxing period of his adult life. However he did have moral qualms about how certain groups were opressed there. But hey, I enjoyed the hotels! And the sea is a like a hot bath

I'm planning / hoping to move into Management Consultancy. Most of the Middle East has pretty rudimentary healthcare, and Dubai has just built 13 new hospitals as part of encouraging the locals to be treated in the country. So it would be either as a generalist or a specialist.

I'd like to work for McKinsey / PA Consulting / BCG.

Concerning a country, it's good to hear that the ones you mention are also the ones I was thinking of. Quatar has pots of dosh at the moment, and is only slightly more non-Western than Dubai; Saudi Arabia would be too far, although I'd happily do engagements there if requested.
