    Default Roman Cologne in 3D

Hello members and friends of Europa Barbarorum!

This week the University of Cologne and some associate partners announced a 3D animation of roman Cologne (Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium). The animations are some kind of simplistic, and unfortunately the whole thing is not accesable by web, but it shows a impression of how a roman city looked like.

Maybe some time later this project will be full available by web.

Wow! This was very interesting. I wish I could read German. I'm only in introductory German so far. I wish EB cities were more like this one - this one seemed very planned, yet very alive - but I know that such a thing is impossible. Oh well! It does make me respect the might of Rome even more.

I don't know exactly if "geil" has the same meaning in German that it has in Dutch but this very interesting

Probably yes, although idiomatically means 'Cool' or 'Massive' or 'Brilliant'. If you were to say 'Ich bin so geil auf dich' you don't mean that you think that person if cool, though. You mean 'Ich bin spitz wie Nachbar's Lumpi'. Does that translate into Dutch?

Seems a bit hard to believe that every single building would be of stone. It is just that you would expect some adaptations to local climate and building techniques. Could someone knowledgeable confirm that the city really would look like that?
