In b4 rickroll.
Someone should make an EB video that is simultaneously a rickroll.
............
It's a good idea, damn it!
I really love this track from the Chaos;Head OST.

If you want, I can upload the whole OST.

Pink Floyd - Sysyphus (Part 1), from their fantastically freaky and psychedelic album Ummagumma.

Pink Floyd - Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, also from Ummagumma. The music is actually based on ancient music theory. The video above is from their Live At Pompey DVD. Psychedelic epic.

Pink Floyd - Atom Heart Mother Suite. Kind of the psychedelic 60s version of the 1812 overture. :D
Apart from that I second the Conan OST's badassness.

The Ridde of Steel from the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack is pretty awesome imo.

Also I really like the Arnocorps songs for Commando and Predator because I think that those movies were totally awesome.

Isn't exactly music for the time period but it really gets me in the conquering mood![]()

Practically all the songs from the first Halo were spot-on for a legendary hero saga. Sad, mysterious, and epic. It was perfect for punching through the Covenant in legendary Assault on the Control Room. The addition of the electric guitar to Halo 2's theme is symbolic of the overall dumbing-down of the series.

There are some good suggestions here -- I'll definitely have to check them out.
I have a pair of songs that might seem like strange choices:
Autobots Descend by Steve Jablonsky (from the Transformers live-action movie)
http://www.bebo.com/FlashBox.jsp?FlashBoxId=4765760839&
Klingon Battle March by Jerry Goldsmith (the scary music you hear whenever you see a Klingon Battle Cruiser)
http://www.last.fm/music/Jerry+Golds...Klingon+Battle
They both have heavy brass over light strings and woodwinds, although the Battle March is obviously more vibrant, while Autobots Descent is more brooding. But on a good audio system, the haunting powerful drone of the brass dominating the rapid, urgent violins makes my hair stand on end.
-Glee
(edit) P.S. I don't use anything but EB's own music in-game. Spot on immersion and mood IMO.

The soundtrack to the computer game Outcast. Parts of it are really epic, the rest is just simply great! Performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra if I remember correctly. Easily one of the best soundtracks for a computer game I have heard. Better than most movie soundtracks.
Extremly epic:
Almost all stuff from "Immediate Music" and a some-sort-of-partner band called "Globus".
Immediate Music specialises in soundtrack music and has made the music for many games and movies, there are some tracks I immediatly recognised though I can't tell where I know them from.
I own their discography now (estimated 950 tracks) and there is not much I dislike (I'm a huge soundtrack fan, be it movie, TV show or game, good soundtracks are way more intensive than "standard" music in my opinion).
And Globus is just...epic. Can't say I like their tendency to goth style (reminds me of emo, and emo makes me sick). But their music really is very deep and just so good...

And yeah, the music video isn't that good either (I saw it right now the first time when i googled for it...). Best is to don't look and just to listen.
And always remember youtube sound quality is astonishingly miserable.
The Mjolnir mix is just as good as the original Halo theme, in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with electric guitars, and it worked well for the feel of the second game.
Anything from Freespace/Freespace 2. For example :

One of my favourite games and soundtracks ever.
Yes, I fully agree lmao, Rick Astley
Son of the Glorious Empire of Croatia
traits: Distrusts Hairy Middle-Easteners, Reverant, Austere, True Roman.
Exactly. There was nothing wrong per se with the Mjolnir mix, and it did mesh well with the attitude of the game. The dumbed-down, imbalanced game that was shipped on November 9 2004. They did everything they could to make Master Chief a simple frat-boy badass instead of a true stoic hero. Sorry, I've got a bit of a grudge with almost every change that Halo 2 made to the original. There's a good reason that it was patched, and also a very good reason that Halo 3 felt more like Combat Evolved than Halo 2.
