Well, anyone up for a good puzzle/brain teaser/something of that sort?
I guess I'll start off: (it would be best if you didn't look up the answer on the internet because well, thats cheap)
What is the next iteration of the pattern?
1
11
21
1211
111221
312211
13112221
1113213211
I'm sure this is completely wrong, but is the answer this?
4133114311

I cheated and googled it, so I'm not at a liberty to answer.

Nope, here is a hint: Don't use "math" ie, don't try to find any mathematical pattern like +/-/* to try to get the next term
But I didn't try to use mathematical whatsits

I just went via patterns in columns. Eg: in the first column it is 11211311, so it seems reasonable the next number will be 4...
4133114121
Another try.
Do tell me if I am off the track with 4s though...
Edit: First number could be 1 actually...
1133114311 maybe?

Yep, thats right. It took me forever to find the answer since when I was given the riddle, I didn't have access to the Internet for like a week...
Clearly my uber-simplified way using sequences has failed...

Okay....another one I guess
You are in a 2 story house. On the top floor, there are 3 lightbulbs and on the bottom floor, there are three light switches, each corresponding to one light bulb.
Now, how do you determine which light switch correspond to which lightbulb if you start out in the bottom floor and can only go up to the first floor once? There is no way to interact or get any data from the light bulbs while on the bottom floor

Grab a friend to watch the lights for you.

Turn one on, leave it for half an hour, turn it off, turn on a second one. Go upstairs.
The first one will be hot, the second will be on, and the third will have never been on.

That's good, I was going to say go outside and see which rooms are lit up.
For the first one I started reading it in such a way that it was obvious...funny how that works out sometimes.
