Watching them state each new goal and it getting blown away shortly after was pretty exhilarating. I do worry that they will struggle to create all this content in the timeframe they've set themselves, 18 months or so?

A new isometric fantasy rpg and a sequel to Wasteland? I kinda like this Kickstarter thing!

I admit I upped my own contribution when they posted the $3.0 and $3.5 mil stretch goals. Those were good ones.

It'll be very interesting to see how this generation of Kickstarted games turns out. We've seen a lot of Kickstarter success over the last 8 months, but it's going to be years before we know whether this method of game financing is actually viable.

So, Bioshock Infinite is available for pre-purchase on Steam now. With a release date of February 26, 2013.

    Available: February 26th, 2013
This game will unlock in approximately 4 months, 2 weeks, and 20 hours
Are we really at the point where it is acceptable to pre-purchase a game at full price four and a half months before release?

What's even crazier is that people are apparently more than happy to do so. Bioshock: Infinite has broken the top ten best sellers on steam, it's currently sitting right behind Counter Strike: GO.

Personally I loathe the idea of pre-purchasing digital copies, but I compromised with XCOM for the free Civ 5 and the bonus customization pack. Here though.. I dunno. Seems way too early in my opinion. The pre-purchase bonus for B:I is nowhere near as good either... a free flash game. Fantastic

Specially considering that Bioshock Infinite's development has been rather troubled.
I'm pretty certain there was news recently about top devs quitting the studio.

Who cares, get Dishonered instead. The best game of it's kind since Thief 2.

Been reading rave reviews about it all over, and it's on my 'to buy' list as soon as I get over my sudden renewal of interest in World of Tanks and Skyrim.

Well, XCOM also had an enthusiastic dev team that demonstrated as much of the game as you can without shipping people the source code. All we really know about B:I is that it looks purty.
