    Default Sidebar Issues

Ok, so I got Vista home premium, and I haven't had much to complain about. However, the other day, my sidebar mysteriously disappeared. Poof. Gone. I turned the computer on, and its simply NOT there. However, if I search programs, it appears there; if I click on it, nothing seems to happen.

So, does anyone have any ideas what's happening?

At first I would try restarting the PC, that usually fixes my sidebar issues if I ever have any (there seems to be some where some plugins are not shown correctly, seems like a driver issue on my desktop since when I do not restart I often get graphical glitches in games as well, not sure what driver I use though, could be old ).
If that won't help, try looking whether it actually starts a process at all and uhm, well, no idea what then so far, I would expect the most from just restarting, updating some drivers may or may not help, thinking about my own example.

I had the same thing happening to me a little while back. I suspected my 4 year old for having messed around with the computer ... again.

I don't exactly remember how I got it back up, but I think I re-activated the small applications running in the sidebar via control panel or something or right clicking in the general area where the sidebar should be found. I didn't log my actions.

    But it is back.

    Open command prompt and type:

    Muchos gracias, Senior Rythmic.

    Worked like a charm.

With such a gem like Rythmic's, I thought that we could build up a Troubleshooting sticky, 'cause such vital info should not be left into the dust by the passing of time.

Would that work, what do you think ?
