I'd say so - I'm a fan of Blind Guardian myself.

    Totentanz by Liszt.

Check out the epic 70s hair too. There are numerous artifacts in the video, possibly from it's coversion to digital? Just listen, no reason to watch unless you're a pianist (In which case it's an epic performance as well!). I love the range present in Totentanz, the very definition of the 'epic' classical feel for me is to go from heights to lows, from loud to quiet, from light to dark, fast to slow, and so forth and so to experience the whole possibilities that can be wrung from an orchestra.

Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky.

Surely I've pimped this somewhere else here, as it was one of the pieces that introduced me to classical music as a child (Fantasia, of course) and has stuck with me ever since. This is a modest reworking of the original with an accelerated pace on top, but it's bloody good and you just can't ask for more than that.

Annihilation of the Wicked by Nile. (Warning, turn down your speakers from where they were for the two above. )

Had to throw in something modern and I seriously doubt many metal fans are going to dispute this being an epic work. Exquisite intro riffs.

When it occurs to a man that nature does not regard him as important and that she feels she would not maim the universe by disposing of him, he at first wishes to throw bricks at the temple, and he hates deeply the fact that there are no bricks and no temples

Perfection Or Vanity by Dimmu Borgir should qualify. It's a black metal band yes; but it's relatively safe to click that link. Purely instrumental song, thus no growling; and no truly offencive images will you find there either.

(you'll find videos with better sound quality if you do a search)
    Runes for good luck:
