Greetings of the battle day Vintersorg! Froggbeastegg's a pretty darn useful member/advisor for getting you started, IMHO. I mean, everyone here's PD useful but she has written the Guides, which live on my bookshelf in between the Bible and the Theory of Evolution and are consulted more often than both.

Well, I've bought Rome: Total War Gold edition and Medieval 2 + kingdoms.
Right now, I've started up Medieval 2, and I'm playing my first England campaign.
So far I easily destroyed Scotland (though I have to admit I got myself excommunicated in the process). And right now, I'm encroaching on French territory with varying degrees of success.

So far, so good, I haven't lost a single battle. And I've got a good amount of money entering (roughly 9000 a turn).
So far I've been fighting mainly the Gauls, who have only 1 settlement left (and who can see my full stack of troops closing in.)
Oh, and I was also able to buy Shogun: Total war Gold this weekend, for the measly price of 5€...and that store will supply me Medieval 1: TW for the same price :-)
I wonder how it comes that I've missed out on such an excellent series for so long :-)

I found MTW after Rome, but I couldnt play it, the battles are just...ugh.
The main problem with my campaign is that the Julii have taken too much, they have about 4-5 times as many provinces as I do. But i am getting about 12k a turn. I cant spend enough to stop the corruption traits.

Yeah, I'm not a hug RTS guy myself. The main one I play is Starcraft, but that game is basically a sport.

Theyre the best type of game. you can customise hundreds of things. including history. For instance as Carthage i defeated rome. A lot different from RPGs' and other games. i love the customity.

Well, RTS games typically take a lot more practice to get good at. I like them until I feel confident in playing other people. Then I get discouraged because I lose a good 100 games in a row. That's obviously not the genre's fault, that's my fault, but the discouragement plays a role in preventing me from enjoying the game to its fullest.Not a huge RTS fan!
