    Default Kinda an OT question

i love this mod its the best for the RTW series, props to the modders. While im patiently awaiting EBII im fiddling again with M2TW and M2TWK. I was wondering if anyone knew a good mod for those games.

I'm hoping for a miracle from the EB2 team, but the the basic game is so flawed that no mod I have tried has managed to make an enjoyable gaming experience for me.

Broken crescent. Excellent, with a great new map, factions, and more accuracy. It's highly recommended.
    Completed campaigns:
    Vanilla Carthage
    BI Sassanids
    EB 1.1 Casse

    Broken Crescent is pretty good.

If you have Kingdoms; I enjoyed Stainless Steel and Sicilian Vespers as well. As well as Deus lo Vult.

How right you are. I have obtained M2TW a two weeks ago and so far it was a huge disappointment for me. Especially the unit balance and cavalry. The cavalry in Medieval 2 is very buggy as well as being both overpowered and underpowered. Overpowered, because nothing short of a pikeman unit will stop a charging unit of knights, not even elite spear and sword units with 30 defence. Underpowered because the handling of cavalry is so buggy. In RTW, the cavalry was easy to control, in M2TW, it is impossible to get the cavalry to follow your orders. When charging they slaughter anything and everything but the second you tell them to pull out they lose something like 7 men.

The infantry is also messed up, especially when it attacks, as the whole formation stops as soon as a single soldier engages and enemy unit. The rest of the attacking unit just remain in their place instead of attacking the enemy. Unit balance is likewise screwed up with no unit able to counter knights effectively and unit stats are unbalanced with high attack and ridiculously low defence.

This is just a small portion of my grievances, btw.

    Mods? Well:

For now, Broken Crescent: The best mod so far for M2TW. Excellent units, great ambience, it really gets you in the mood of crusading a bit.

For the future, besides Europa Barbarorum 2, I would recommend a rather unknown mod: Last Kingdom. It`s about the Viking world, centering itself on the viking conquest of Britannia. Time period = 865-1066. It`s a quite promising mod, since it`s one of the few (if not the only) mod still in development tha tries to represent the vikings in an acurate yet playful manner. It`s skins are awesome, particularly it`s shields.

    This`s the map:

It`s about to get released, so that`s another plus.

It`s for Kingdoms, so it can take advantage of the many features provided by that expansion.
