I just thought I'd share. I was at my buddies' place knocking back a few beers and watching the PSU vs OSU game. Since I go to PSU and we won (#3 vs #9), massive riots ensued.
Here is where it gets good. As I'm walking home, I see a bunch of riot police getting into a conflict with some obviously drunken students (I've only had two beers, and I'm not intoxicated). The one police officer maces this one kids because of something he did (it's dark and I'm semi far away). The kid who got maced starts freaking out and decks this girl into the bushes. Now I'm laughing my ass off as the kids try to scatter and police chase after.
What a great night.
Edit: Apparently someone video taped a part of the riot and sent it to my school newspaper. Here it is: (This is about a block from my apartment)

Crowd control is such a spectator sport.

SWEET!!! There are days I wish my area wasn't so peaceful. But it is. Shame.
Ha, nice. Had something similar, twice, but to cut a long story short one involved a police helicopter
and riot police, another involved police dogs and a golf course.

This should be in the backroom, right? I could see it getting political very quickly...

This appears to be Back Room material. So without further ado....

I wish my city had riot police. They generally let us run ourselves tired.
Now complete with a video
Did they tase them, bro?

This is sooo not what I thought it would be... I had this image of cops smashing kids in the side of the head with a heavy metal spike club

Great. I just love the attitude now-a-days that winning or losing a big game is a legitimate excuse to destroy things.

Yes, cops nowadays aren't what they used to be anymore.

Yeah, you can always count on the riot police and students to be out on the streets after a big win.
Gregoshi 13:56 10-27-2008
Maybe so
Kush, but I'd hoped for better conduct from the Penn State students. It makes me think of the 4th verse of our Alma Mater:
May no act of our's bring shame
To one heart that loves thy name
Ice goes to PSU also and I'm applying. Sorry to be off topic....

Astronomy... sounds cool
I'm an accounting major. I'm sure a lot has changed since you have been here.

Yeah, astronomy
sounds cool. A couple of nights observing in an office somewhere near the telescope (observatory staff does all the work in the dome), followed by years holed up in an office with no windows crunching the data. Okay, so I exaggerate a little... Anyway, that why I ended up in computers/programming.
Accounting? Have you had any of those 800 student general requirement classes in Eisenhower Auditorium, or don't they do that anymore?
As for the campus, the periphery of the campus has changed the most. The HUB and Ritenour have undergone the most change in the heart. The HUB is much bigger and nicer than back in my day. I was in East Halls all four years - Sproul Hall, room 401, right side to be specific.
yesdachi, pun-ology is a BS degree...

No way... freshman year my buddy lived on the 5th floor of Sproul and we use to party there. By the way, I'm sure East looks like it did when you left.
Oh, they still have those big class. My accounting class was 955 kids. They have it in the forum building. I don't know if that was there in your day.
Gregoshi 06:13 10-30-2008
Hehehe, small world, ain't it? The Forum building existed in my day and I had several classes there, not to mention seeing numerous movies there on Friday/Saturday nights. From what I've seen of East Halls when I get to the football games & art festival, it looks pretty much the same. I'm sure the insides have gotten some upgrades, especially the dining halls, if the HUB is any indication.
In the "This is really freaky" department, not two hours after I posted about my room in Sproul, I got a friend request on Facebook from my buddy/roommate from those days. I hadn't heard from him in close to 20 years...cue the spooky music!
