Hi Phalanx, this should be easy to solve....
The ONLY way you can ever get that particular error message is when you have installed basic Redux upon a VI/V.2.01 engine AND did not apply the VI-upgrade (at least properly or successfully). Basic Redux/Module A alone can not run on a V.2.01 engine and the Papist-message is the exact message for all such attempts. You must have the Redux VI-upgrade/module B installed as well - on top (and this installed last of all).
There is no other way to get that message. Thus that is exactly problem here. Once you apply the VI-upgrade as well (successfully) - Redux will then work just fine. If you indeed can run XL or whatever - you WILL be able to run Redux on that machine - that is practically guaranteed. Redux does work better on most newer hardware then XL does. I doubt your hardware is somehow unique on this note.
1. Install a fresh copy of MTW (wherever you want it) and patch it to V.2.01 (if need be).
2. Install basic Redux (module A) on top of that fresh MTW-install.
3. THEN you install the Redux VI-upgrade (module B) on top of that basic Redux install (successfully).
4. Start game...
Basically, see the provided instructions in post:24 (this thread) and follow them EXACTLY (do not deviate somehow) and then there should not be any further problems on this. You will be playing Redux in no time. The details about files and modules are outlined in post:23 (also this thread). If still in doubt somehow, read those posts all over again...
