Thread: AI expansion question

    Default AI expansion question

OK, I just started playing EB and there one theing that's bothering me. I notice that the AI is slow to conquer the surrounding rebel cities. For example, there are alot of rebel cities to the east of the Sweboz, and it bothers me that they dont take up an offensive and take those cities. Basically, I want the AI to be more agressive and take regions that surrround them. Will they expand over time or will I have to do it all myself and take those cities?

In EB the rebel cities are more strongly defended with more troops, as some of those cities were historically. Over time factions will eventually take these cities, but don't expect to see any blitzing in EB unlike vanilla. Welcome to the forums Hybr1d.

I must emphasize this statement. Definitely don't expect to see such blitzing. Even if you do try blitzing yourself, you may find it somewhat difficult to establish a foothold in a large swath of territory taken in only a couple years(with your nearest recruitment zones a considerable distance away, rebellious newly-conquered populations, etc). EB is best played at a slow pace. I'd advise you take the time to enjoy every small aspect of EB, as well as roleplaying with a lot of characters and cities, etc.

EB is a much more different experience than vanilla RTW, and much more enjoyable. It has the essence of lasting enjoyability.

give it time. the AI factions have to be allowed to build themselves up. things really get going around 230-220 BC...

A good example is Carthage, which really doesn't do much until about 220 BC, when it explodes.

Yeah carthage is being lazy in my romani campaign.... i massacred their sicilian army yet did nothing to replace them O.O
As far as AI expansion in my game year 263 BC the other factions are expanding, although slow but expanding non-the-less. I dont know if my gameplay is fast but it took me 7 years to conquer all cities in the italian peninsula and 2 cities in sicily after that further expansion is halted and my attention is shifted to the unrest of conquered lands.

it's 248bc, no AI is lazy this time.

Nope, I got nothing to do with it.

I believe Sauromatae will eventually conquer the 3 rebel regions east of Sweboz, somehow it went to a halt because the Sweboz declare war on them.

    Default AW: AI expansion question

That's very unusual that someone conquered Lugouw that early. Congrats to your AI-expansion, the only things I dislike are 1) Epeiros and 2) Rome in Germania in 248BC.

    Since nobody pointed out:
EB has strong rebels to the south east of Sweboz specifically to slow down expansion in that area.
You will notice very strong armies there & if you try invading, you will find that they tend to respawn & kick your ass back out.

Also there is an AI progression thread over here where you can see the expansion of AI factions in various peoples games.
maybe those guys should be doing something more useful...

I didn't, and force diplomacy mod was removed.

They are my allies and I just gave the region with some mnai as a gift. campaign difficulty is Hard.

The best part is the region between Sweboz and Getai, there is a settlement with full stack and a mobile army with a 10 star general. The Sauromatae, Getai and Sweboz kept invading that area.
