I focused very much on composing it with having the men in the right positions and taking it from right angle and suff. In photoshop I tried to make it look like sun was shining in their helmets and that someone is more exposed to sunlight while others are standing in the shadows. I think these things make it look more realistic.

Like they are staying in normal weather and normal sky, and not like dramatic and movie-like. I hope you like it anyway. Epic and movie-like sometimes look cool, but thats what everbody do latley, and I allways do it, so I am a little tired of it.

I think it's just all the shadows in the shot that create that impression. Still very impressive though.

Wow, did you even read my post? Mercenaries don't look different from faction to faction, and if they do, please tell me which one.

SwissBarbar, I think your picture was way much better before you photoshopped it. You should go back to the old one. It was so fresh and good to watch

    Thanks Pontius

@ ludwag: thanks, but i like it better that way, it looks more epic, especially the riders in the sunlight right behind the elephant and the archer on the tower. It's still the same picture, just slightly improved. I like yours, looks like a really big combat. Who did win?

That's because they all share one thing in common: moderate to heavy editing, which is good, or at least in my opinion. It makes all of these submissions look more like pictures/illustrations than a simple screenshots.

To SwissBarbar: If it is possible, I would edit out that piece of a yellow flag and resubmit the picture if I were you. I still think your picture is the best so far, but that yellow flag messes up the overall impression a little bit. Editing it shouldn't be a problem either, since you could just white out the yellow flag considering the color of the background (it is also white if I am not mistaken).

yes you're right. better this way? i didn't want to edit the picture by removing things or somewhat like that in the first place. just playin with brightness, contrast and colours.

but the yellow flag there really messed up the picture

Yes, I am aware that they were edited and what that does to screenshots, but still, they're not half bad, well that's what I think.
