    Default Hashashim's worth it?

I just hit turn 70 and the Mongols in my Egypt campaign. I've taken out the Turks, Hungary, and the Byzantines. I'm pretty spread out, as far as Budapest, which means the European powers (Milan and England in this case) are starting to tech up and test me. A good sized stack of mostly DFKs recently rolled on me and I had a tough time, lucking out that they were well below me on the terrain map and my HA tore them up pretty well while miltiia held them.

I need something a tad stronger to fight Mongols and other heavy infantry. My HA become less effective as armor gets thicker. The top tiered infantry (Tabardariyya) have decent stats, are they worth pursuing? And to the title, is it worth spamming assassins and forgoing other guilds on my frontier cities to get a Hashashim guild? From constant Jihading my ruler has great chivaly so I'm hesitant to cut into that. Thanks!

While I dont play as the Eastern Factions, I can assure that realistically, Hashashim are not worth it.

In a Moors campaign a while ago, I found them quite useful in cities and castles, especially on the walls. They are ideal stormtroopers, probably due to their two hitpoints. They're not as useful in open field battles, and probably not good at all when charged upon.

Hashashims are excellent in city defense and totally worth it. They are indeed poor on open field, but you could always hide them so far the enemy isn´t charging yet, before you pop out of your hide and attack them. Negating cavalries charge option is key thing in winning a battle (unless you got lots of pikes waiting for them)

I don’t know about that. The AI sees all! Try hiding a unit and then withdrawing everything else…the AI will go right to the unit left behind and attack it…

That probably has more to do with it being the only unit left on the field. I've put my general (who can never hide) in the trees before, surrounded, by spearmen who were hiding, and the AI has charged straight into the trap.

As for hashashim, I"m not a big fan of heavy infantry in pitched battle. The AI always finds some way to charge them with general's bodyguard no matter how I manoever, so I just use em for siege defenses and whatnot.

they are very suited for city battles as they are small in unit size, high stats and 2 hit points.

Small unit size - easy to move around in city
High Stats - mow through militia spearmen or cheap units
2 hit points - together with high stats, killers they are

Not to mention they are ideal for sending up onto the wall since they will waste less time climbing ladders/towers due to their small size.

The one place in a seige they should never be used, however, is in the initial rush through the gate (if you have Kingdoms). That boiling oil won't care about the 2 hitpoints and will likely wipe out most of the unit in a single fiery deluge. This is also a problem if you are going up against ballista towers (i.e. due to their small size, they are vulnerable to weapons which don't kill many men but always kill the man they hit); but then I wouldn't generally try to do that without either cannons or massive numerical superiority anyway.
