yeah, but when you have 2 fullstacks you can't control them anyway. The reinforcement will just wait outside the red line, and if one of your units should rout and leave 1 box free, then 1 unit of the reinforcement will enter the battlefield....

Many thanks to Hooahguy for this great sig.
That's really annoying indeed. I remember in my Romani campaign when I was fighting huge Ptolemaoi empire I had 2 full stacks and they've brought their 2 stacks full of Pezhetairoi and their elite phalanxes. I couldn't win that with just 1 stack so had to give control of another 1 to the AI and in a stupid way the AI lost nearly all of it. The AI general with crappy cavalry bodyguards charged head on into the elite phalanx formation and died in seconds. But at least I've won the battle.

oh last time i tried (ok it were just 2 3/4 stacks) as soon as the reeinforcements came the game lagged worse than every lag I've ever encountered(and i always buy new games before buying a new PC^^) I only won the battle because
1. my starting troops could have dealt with the remainings(enemy general dead, killed 50%)
2. almost no units that need micro(spearmen against spearmen)
3. I am a very pacient man^^
