And it won't take as much time to build up a good army, in EB I always need to build an armory before I make troops because the AI and its money bonuses always has upgraded troops.
Yeah. I hated training my units in one city, but having to retrain them in another to take advantage of any possible weapon/armour upgrades. It's such a pain.
Well, I'm assuming that EBII will still have all those weird little morale upgrades right?

Can't you test that by modding a unit to have 0 morale and trying that unit in game on the field and in a city battle with a temple that gives an absurd morale bonus.
