Default weird gameplay issue in shogun total war

i recently decided to play shogun and have a weird issue. when im on the battlefield, when i tell a unit where to go , they end up moving behind the cammera. i also havent been able to use the left button to choose my formations. i havent played this game in probably 6 years and i worked on my old computer and i have tried reinstalling and i also have the original version and warlord edition.

so basically whatever i try and do ends up happening behind the cammera. any ideas of how to fix this?

The problem you're describing is usually caused by some of the newer video cards. Do you know what kind of [video card] you have?

About the best I can do is recommend you check out this thread in the Sword Dojo (the main Shogun discussion forum). Depending on what you have for hardware and video drivers, you might not be able to play STW unless you go out and purchase a different video card.

Just download an older driver for your video card, and install it. That fixes most problems. Just remember to upgrade later on.

With an 8xxx series card you probably won't be able to get a driver old enough to solve this problem, good luck though.

Get yourself an FX7600GT. It's the card that I use and plays STW..MTW..RTW..M2TW and with no problems.
    Good luck.

    I have a FX7600GT and I can't play M2TW without lagging on a semi-high unit battle. And my 8600GT barely plays it...

What's wrong with all the cards I buy..

They all seem to be failsauce..
