There are quite ways actually, and I think you are referring to the speed of turns. Just search a bit or wait for someone to drop by and tell you. The script mainly causes the turns to be slow, as we as the loading time. Oh yeah, welcome to the forums mate! Here, have your first balloon:

cheers mate thanks for the balloon
Np. Now that I think of it, I think one way to reduce speeds is to turn off AI turns before starting a campaign...

In this: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=101971 thread, under "optional changes" you will find away to remove the client ruler part of the script. You wont have any client rulers any more (many ppl dont mind) but he turn speed will be much faster. :)
just use the client ruler optimization fix... it doesn't remove the client ruler, but it improves AI turn times. For me, switching from rome.exe to alex.exe did wonders, too

also try this:

for me: change the graphicoption in my system from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 helps a lot
(didn´t know that this slow up my graphic and gamespeed so much - the units are also much more detailed)
Sorry to bump this, but I've tried all of the recommendations on that thread about speeding up EB, and the client ruler fixes (maybe: I use the Alexander EB mod and was told it included all 1.1 fixes)... but the game still runs at the same speed it used to before. That is, slow.
Vanilla RTW runs very quickly and smoothly, but in the campaign map of EB, everything takes a split second to register, making the entire gameplay feel sluggish. Thankfully combat runs perfectly, but not being able to enjoy the campaign map as vanilla does makes me sad.
