Thread: Retention of current RTW data by some means

Default Retention of current RTW data by some means

Hello, I'm considering installing EB but not entirely keen on having to uninstall and loose all my existing saves in RTW, BI and whatever the acronym for the Alexander expansion is. I've tried straight off cpoying saves before but that failed, Is there any way I can install EB without losing everything? (Or more likely, is there any way I can set it up so I can restore my current games at a late date?).

A good question and welcome, I don't have a real answer but the best way may be to copy your RTW/BI file and install EB over that one, in fact most EB veterans have multiple copies so they can install lots of different mods. The only problem may come in that EB is best installed over a full clean installation of RTW.
Oh, and once you've started EB you'll totally forget your earlier saves it's that good compared to vanilla RTW

We won't destroy your savegames, and you can still play the vanilla RTW or expansions after installing EB. You may want to make a backup copy of your clean 1.5 RTW though, as you may want to install some other mods or screw up the installation in some other way.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

I do NOT answer PM requests for help with EB. Ask in a new help thread in the tech help forum.

Yeah, I am playing EB, but sometimes I will switch to BI, which just started working after I installed the 1.6 patch. Before that I had a CTD that killed all of my campaigns on their third turn. Sometimes when I know I don't have enough time to wait for EB to load, I will just start playing BI, which takes 15 minutes less to start playing. I have also tried playing RTW just to see if it works, and it does.

Hi all, second post in few time :)
    Here's my experience, HTH.

    1. Backupped all my RTW files from $RTW_HOME to $RTW_HOME_BACKUP (sorry, i'm a shell nerd :P)
    2. Installed EB over RTW 1.5 Gold Edition, as a mod.
    3. Installation created a directory EB under $RTW_HOME and i copied rometw.exe and *.dll right there.
    4. Changed the EB icon to point at the directory with -mod:eb switch.
    5. it worked also with a no-cd crack of RTW.

Now i am able to play vanilla RTW, Alexander and EB.
